Doubles Tourney warmup match

Just finish the tourney earlier. The tournament requires each player to field 1k points of army, combine force organization with each player fielding 1HQ 2TROOP compulsory. I match up with Stanley. He wanted to field his newly acquired Chaos Marines, so I complimented his Chaos army by using Dark Angels. In which I rename my fallen Angels chapter to Dust Brigade.

Our team name: Chaos Theory.

This doubles tourney is warm up match to SporeCON 2010. It’s the only annual gaming convention held in Singapore since 2008.

Overview of the Tourney

I think we did fine. We went 2nd for 2 out of 3 games played. Weathered all incoming fire. Some got destroyed but we push on. Forcing our opponent to keep punishing us until we reach within 12″-24″ range, than we let all hell breaks loose. It has been a gratifying experience. No doubt, I still missed alot in shooting(despite twin linking etc) and in melee(still can’t roll hit on 4+ most of the time), we managed to squeeze 2 victories and 1 draw.

Game01 was a game against Blood Angels with Necron. Mission seize ground and deployment pitch battle. We scrap a win when I successfully assaulted the Necron Warriors with my Lone Librarian, pulling the Warriors away from the objective and claiming it with my lone Sgt Marine that used to be attached with the Librarian. Close win.

Game02 was against Dark Angels with Space Marines, Deathwing with Cpt Shrike. Mission was annihilation and deployment dawn of war. Managed to win dice off and choose to go first. Reserving everything by our opponent, we went full force forward as fast as we can. Although they refuse flank us and came in in the corner, we were still able to close in with our transports. By end of turn6, we managed to destroyed everything except a Land Raider(which didn’t dare come within 24″ of our units). We gave 7KP out of possible 20, won 11KP out of possible 12.

Game03 was against Blood Angels with Imperial Guards. This might prove to be our toughest game. Mission was Capture and Control, deployment Spearhead. Blood Angels chose to reserve almost everything, using descent of angels to gain the initiative. First 3 turns was brutal as we take pounding after pounding from IG superior range firepower. Landspeeders managed to wrack a battle cannon Leman Russ and Daemon Prince wrack demolisher Leman Russ. A lucky Multi-melta from a Dreadnought wracks Vendetta. Dreadnoughts kills off most Angels that wandered too close. We suffered considerable damage too. Game ended on Turn06, each holding their own objective thus we draw.

I left quickly after our 3rd game, while the rest are still fighting it out, since I am already late with my dinner appointment with my wife. Stanley text me later and informed me that we won the tourney! Whoa. This came as a total surprise and I am really happy about it! Proves I have reached a kind of critical mass list building.

Maybe we’ll adjust the list again before SporeCON.

  1. Congrats! Man, brutal “March of the titans or ‘tree Ents’ in LOTR” list as mentioned.

I’m glad it all went well despite beginning 2nd 2/3 of the games =)
